Xining's Day Three!

As promised here is Day 3.

It was another great day.  No issues to report and everything (and I do mean everything) seems to be running as the CEO planned.

Initially we were told we would have around 85 but that number has grown to over 100.  I have not received a final number but parents seem to find out about the camp and then show up to get their child registered.  Many new faces.

We were even approached by a couple last night in the lobby of our hotel about how to register their daughter.

Xining Wishes for a Birthday Boy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Bruce!

I’m so sorry not to be with you today. I’m trusting you’ve made celebration plans with friends or family.

This is an amazing trip and I’m SO glad to be here. I’m loving both the children & the teaching.  It’s not without its challenges and I’m having trouble sleeping but it is getting better everyday.  I think of you everyday & miss you.  Sending much love till I see you.

Love

J.E.

Xining is now in a Groove

Day 2 started and now it is closed.  Success!

That is the best word to describe this day.  Our teachers and assistants were in place and each class ran like clockwork.

Class Two had their Christmas lesson today and learned many of the traditions from America including Christmas Carolling.  After learning a few songs they embarked on a tour of other classrooms to sing to them.

It was nice to hear that an older class of students started to take pictures of the mini-concert. ...read more »

Camp Xining's First Day was AWESOME!

I know it is a day late but we had some REALLY slow internet speeds last night so rather than walk back home to give you guys the update I thought I would be lazy and sleep this delay off until today.

First of all if you did not see our pictures then go check out this site  http://www.flickr.com/photos/xining-2010.  I am adding our pictures there because I can also add some commentary there as well. ...read more »

The 2010 Xining Opening Ceremonies Begin

The students lined up, the Chinese assistants lined up as well as our BTW team and the Opening Ceremonies began!

After the proper introductions were given and speeches were finished it became final.

Game On!

Pur teacher went to their classrooms with their assistants and kids and started the “Get to Know You” activities.  The kids were excited and the parents too.  Our teachers were charged up and ready to go.  While this was a short time with them the energy could be seen and felt.

Two More Team Members Arrive

Today was a very restful day for our late night arrivals.  They were allowed to sleep in some and we started to get them aclamated to the school and Xining.

Our breakfast this morning consisted of a hard boiled egg, bread slices and jelly.  Stories were shared and relationships are being built.  Great things for our first day.

We had our first camp meeting today to establish the Dos and Don’ts and we also covered what everyone should expect for the next week or so. ...read more »

The Plane has Landed!

The Plane has landed…at least for two of us.

Carol and I have arrived in our room and we are going to get some shut eye before hitting the big town of Xining in the morning.

All flights were good with no unusual events to report.  We did feel like we were being fed every time we turned around.  So lack of food was not an issue.

Tomorrow 15 of our people will arrive at or about the same time we did tonight (LATE).  Keep us in your thoughts and talking about us above.

Good Night!

Our Time is Coming Up!

Today is Thursday, 7/15/10.  One week from today Carol and I will be in Xining China and will greet our team on the following day.

I encourage everyone to keep up with our camp and to remember us each and every day.  We seek wisdom in doing our jobs in the right way and to be great examples to anyone that maybe watching us.

The one thing that will be needed for each person is patience and for our campers to be healthy and open to eating different foods.

This will be a positive experience and we will be making daily updates detailing our experiences. ...read more »
