Xinings Last Day in Beijing

This morning we woke up again knowing we had a western breakfast waiting for us.  And boy was it delicious!

Here is the link again for more images of our experiences.

At 8:00 we started a two hour meeting with a T. by Carol and camp director updates.  We also had a few PTL songs and Bud Everett gave an inspirational talk.  Jordan C. concluded with his China experiences and what the coming year was shaping up to be and how doors were opening up.

Once the morning meeting had finished half of us jumped on the bus and headed to the Forbidden City and the others went on the Hutong tour (“Old Beijing City”).

I cannot speak for the Hutong tour but the Forbidden City tour is interesting.  Our first stop was the Tienanmen Square which I found out that one million people can fit into the square.

We then made our way into the Forbidden City.  It was interesting to see  the buildings and how the Chinese royalty lived.  However, today was very hot and one of our campers (not from the Xining camp) started to get sick so we elected to shorten our tour and make our way to the air conditioned buses.

Our next stop was a lunch where we met up with the other tour group.

Once we were finished with lunch we headed to the Silk Factory and then we found out no one wanted to go in.  LOL  So we then pulled out of the parking lot and drove to the Pearl Market.

When we arrived at the Pearl Market we found out we could not park the buses outside because some important foreign political dignitary was inside.  So we had to park a couple of blocks away and walk back to the market where we spent about 3 LONG hours of shopping.

Once we were done, it was bus time again.

Half the group went to a restaurant and the other half headed for the hotel for other meal options.

We did met up with Stephanie Renner and she was telling us that she had great success with converting a couple campers who were not coffee drinkers to StarBucks customers.  I won’t spoil the surprise for her by naming names.

So for now this is the last blog update as we will be heading home tomorrow.

See everyone soon!  Lift us up for the flights!

P.S.
Sorry about the lack of photos there seems to be a block here in Beijing for posting pictures.  I will add pictures when I return home.
