Kunming Kraziness
Finally I get on a computer to update all of you one the happenings at Kunming.
First: We are all well and happy and doing well.
Second: We love all of you and thank you for your faithfulness in remembering us daily (and some of you hourly.)
Third: We serve and amazing Boss and he has provided for us beyond measure. Join us in thanking him.
We arrived in Kunming about 1145 pm Kunming time on Friday night and arrived our hotel at about 1:00 pm. Be sure to ask about the taxi entourage from the airport to the hotel. CRAZY!!! I think the last of us got to be about 2:30 am and we were up by 9:00 to start our day. Moving 30 people is not an easy job. It makes me crazy to think about the tribes trekking in the desert so long ago. How did they do it??????
As it ends up we are doing three camps here. The main camp is at a private school which shares our values!!!! There are 22 of us at this site for morning instruction, 6 who are working at an orphanage in morning just lovin’ on about 22 children there, and 2 who are at a center working with adults. We are altogether in the afternoon at the school for afternoon activities. It has been quite a challenge to bring all of this together. In fact we have had to completely reorganize our teaching teams and materials. This is the first time our host has sponsored a camp and I have had to spend so much time working out details that I have not had chance to get to internet cafe. There is no internet service in the school we are in. Some internet cafes do not let foreigners use their computers. In fact our host had to sign on for me today.
We have 65 students at our main camp. They are divided into 5 classes. Class one is taught by Donna and she has 6 students. She is assisted by Joel, Jessica, and Kelly. Class two is taught by Connie and she has about 15 students and is assisted by Anna, Logan, Lindsay, and Wendy. Class 3 is taught by Joanna and she has about 15
and is assisted by Lane, Laura, and Mary Ann. Class 4 is taught by Claudia and she is assisted by Jonathan, and Peggy and they have about 15 students. Class 5 is taught by Nancy and has about 15 students and is assisted by Russell, Sally, and Carson. Linda, Mollie, Tom, Karen, Beth, Anna Leigh, and Tomika form the base of the orphanage team and we send 2 others with them each day. They trave about 45 min one way by bus to get to the orphanage and walk about 15 minutes from the school to get the bus. Bess and Jack are working with the adult students at another off school location. So you can see that we are doing a great deal here that we did not plan for. But is ALL GOOD and seed is being planted in all locations.
I am going to sign this blog entry off in hopes that it will not be lost. I will send some SHOUT OUTS (messages home) in the next blog. I will do it immediately if I do not get cut off here. Otherwise just watch patiently for the next message.
