Jinan Blog #5

Hello from humid China!

Entering the second and last week here at camp, I didn’t know what to expect. The team could shut down and just look forward to going home. The Chinese might stop yearning to learn about English and other things… The ratio of Americans to Chinese could make for a ho-hum week of familiarity and lack of “edge”. However, none of that has taken place and things have really taken off here.

The spirit of the team has been one of the most encouraging things I’ve experienced on a trip. There have not been any discipline problems or insubordination. They have been encouraging and inclusive. It has truly been a joy to watch.

Questions have increased about Father. None of these conversations have been forced, but have been led by the Helper. There is story after story of students coming up with “seemingly” random inquiries into His existence and our joy. Please uplift these opportunities as we try to continually discern each situation’s correct timing to present the Truth. One of the American students this morning touted the comfort level of the Chinese as they talk with us. We see this as an opportunity.

After Sunday’s performance we’ve received 7 more students. Because of this we’ve started a new class this week. More and more opportunities…

As with any trip of this nature, you deal with minor digestive issues and temporary dehydration. A huge praise to report is the short lived stints of these issues. Anyone with a bout has bounced back within a day with full energy and exuberance!

We credit the opportunities we’ve had to Him and your remembrance of us as you reflect. PLEASE continue to do this as it is vital to the operation. Specifically continue to remember our health, safety, effectiveness, and discernment. Furthermore, for courage to seize the opportunities that are ever increasing over these final 3-4 days with our students.

Funny moment of the day: This has nothing to do with camp, but we did witness a man chasing a peacock through a field. Yes, a peacock. Seriously, you don’t see that every day.

You are loved and remembered as well,

The Jinan Team
