Hmmmm, you ask, where is Qiqihar in China?  Well, it is in northern China between Inner Mongolia and North Korea.  It is in Heilongjiang Province and the closest big city is Harbin.

This will be the first time a summer English Camp has been held at this location and we are excited to see what opportunities the area has to offer for our work.  Our hosts are not unfamiliar to us however; there is a stateside connection.  Our hosts, Song Diao and his wife, DanDan, lived in West Virginia for a couple of years.  DanDan worked at Shepherd University where Doug teaches and was in a Book class with one of our team members, Anna (YuChun) Miller.  So we are eager to see Song Diao and DanDan and their son in their hometown.

The team is 23 members strong.  We are planning for 8 classes in the morning and the teachers are very busy putting their lesson plans together.  They are also working on afternoon and evening activities to include crafts, music, drama, games, English Corner, and sports.  

Be THINKING about us as we leave on July 22nd for China.  We have much to do and many miles to travel.  Qiqihar is not an easy place to get to; so the team will have to move luggage many times as they must overnight in Beijing before departing for Qiqihar. 

This will be your link to all that happens in Qiqihar.  I will be blogging when the opportunity arises.  Access to internet in China is not quite as easy as in US.  Also we never know what our schedule will present to us.  So if I do not get to blog as often as you would hope, don’t fret.  It just means we are super busy doing what we went to do for HIM.  Just send up WORDS of praise and encouragement and wait to see how those words have been magnified in Qiqihar.
