Shenyang Camp Has Started!

Dear Friends and Family,

The Shenyang team has arrived safely and camp is underway. Everyone is well.  At this time, Linda Alley, camp director, does not have access to a computer.  I am her “stand in” to let you know that everything is fine in Shenyang with the team.

I can share with you a bit about the trip because our Xi’an team was at the Beijing airport at the same time as the Shenyang team was.  Everyone arrived in Beijing safely, but rain and fog moved in and … you guessed it—all outgoing flights were cancelled!  This announcement was made around 8:30 pm or so (China time—remember we are 12 hours later than you are in the US).  What to do?  Hundreds of Chinese passengers were also stranded, so getting taxis to go to a hotel for all the Americans whose flights were cancelled was impossible. So, we spent the night at the airport—finding all types of chairs and places to get a few hours of rest.  Flights did go out the next day (Saturday) as the weather cleared a bit. As you can see, our beginning was a bit different than we had planned, but we know all of these things are in His hands!

I know that the Shenyang team will appreciate your thoughts about English camp. Your support in this way is very crucial!  Thank you so much for thinking of them.

On Behalf of the Shenyang Team (until technology is available),

Becky Bowman (Xi’an camp director)
