First Day of Week #2 in Xi'an

Dear Friends and Family,

Another rainy day in Xi’an but this time we were all better prepared as it was raining when we got up.  And, I found out that the hotel loans its customers umbrellas!  (If you don’t return the umbrella of course they charge you so they are happy to get your room number and then give you an umbrella!)  As mentioned yesterday, we are actually beginning week 2 of camp today since we will end one day early.  The team is tired and needs a rest, but they are great, and hanging in there for one more morning before a break.  We will have a “movie” afternoon, showing “Cars” to class 1 and 2, “Little Rascals” to class 3 and 4, and “Elf” to class 5 and 6.  We do not have an auditorium at the school here since it is being remodeled so must break the six classes into 3 groups.  It worked out very well since it is raining and could continue to do so.  Those team members who are feeling under the weather or losing voice can stay back this afternoon to rest since the full crew is not needed for this.

Tonight we do not have a formal activity but the group will have to be early to head for the terra cotta soldiers.  We will visit there in the morning (cooler and less crowded—can you imagine being crowded in China?) and then will return to old Xi’an to walk the city wall, see the Drum Tower and Bell Tower (I believe from Ming dynasty—Bell Tower is the center of the walled city) and of course,  a bit of shopping at the Moslem market.  We will have dinner and then our Sunday service together after that.  I look forward to a great time of praise and sharing as well as more from the Word.

Then we start day 2 of week 2 on Monday. Monday night we will have our “Digital Camera Hunt” in which groups of the kids take crazy pictures of themselves doing different activities and we determine a winner and then see the results from all classes on a PowerPoint  (hopefully!)  They love that part!

Dale is back with us today so we praise Him for that.  We have few minor health issues (sore throats, sinus issues) but that’s all!

Please continue to lift up the work in the students’ hearts as they have now heard the good news in some way and on some level (depending on their English abilities).

He has given me extensive opportunity to talk with the English teacher here (Lucy) because I use her office and computer to blog.  We have exchanged gifts and also seen pictures of each other’s families. We have talked about Chr-sti-n education and the difference between it and public education. She has heard my testimony and how He worked and that the Word is absolute truth. We have talked about salv—tion and a relationship with Him. It has been an amazing opportunity, all prompted by friendliness and questions from her!  I know that if many team members were able to blog, they could also share similar experiences.

I may not blog tomorrow (Sunday) since we will not be at school, but I may be able to get on a computer at the hotel.

Thank you for your love and support.

Love,

Becky
