Ready, Set, Rest (Jinan Blog #1)

Well worth 35 hours of travel! We’ve made it to our camp site and have been richly blessed already. He’s been at work in so many unexpected ways.

Here’s a list from the blessings mentioned at tonight’s team meeting:

Everyone feeling well
Encouraged by meeting other BTW teams at airport
The familiar faces of last year’s leaders, Chinese student helpers, and students made reunion sweet and coordination easy
The facility/food is amazing! Comfortable rooms and a plentiful helping!
Having today to plan/rest
Connecting with the kids has happened quickly
Teaching plans came together quickly
Travel was safe
Our lifting warriors back home

Tonight’s meeting was filled with joy and excitement. Planning the testing and opening ceremonies tomorrow, and organization of classes/afternoon activities was the dominant thing on today’s agenda. The plans that have been laid have been put in place with patience and expectation about all that He is going to do.

Our site is a local treasure as a place where teens regularly come to hold camps or retreats. It is replete with attractions. From 2 mountain top pagodas overlooking the campus to a ropes course that is both fun and challenging, this place has it all.

As for right now, it is 8:36pm and every BTW team member can be found under their covers. That can’t be said about the screaming campers running up and down the halls, but they’ll get to bed eventually…right?! Being early to bed is a great thing for our team as we’ll undoubtedly need the rest for the opportunities He’ll provide in the coming days.

Please lift: relationships with students to start off on a good foot, good rest for our team, and opportunities to share Truth.

For now and until Monday,

Your BTW team

PS. if you’re an NBA fan, we saw Steve Nash (former MVP and All Star point guard for the Phoenix Suns) at the Beijing airport and a couple of team members got a picture with him. That’s right, we saw an American basketball all star in a Chinese airport. Go figure.
