Camp Xining's First Day was AWESOME!
I know it is a day late but we had some REALLY slow internet speeds last night so rather than walk back home to give you guys the update I thought I would be lazy and sleep this delay off until today.
First of all if you did not see our pictures then go check out this site http://www.flickr.com/photos/xining-2010. I am adding our pictures there because I can also add some commentary there as well.
Day 1 started and to be perfectly honest it was a well oiled machine. This is my fifth year doing these camps and I REALLY wondered if these teachers had previous experience doing this. I was impressed.
The kids love our teachers and it is being sent right back to them. From Class 1 to Class 8, participation is excellant, and the behavior is great. Many opportunities for sharing and establishing relationships are starting to form. The seeds are many and potential fruits are all ready showing.
I have not done it yet but I will be posting a picture of Sonny Ji. He is my assistant, translator, former student and friend. He now has many friends from our team and he has been one of us since last year. Look up for that one!!!
Also, in our first day, was afternoon activities. As expected there were a small number of glitches but it was expected. It never runs perfect the first time. But those wrinkles will be ironed out soon enough.
Well, enough for now. Stay tuned for another update and please check out our pictures.
