Xining Day 5 Fun
Our fifth day of teaching is now under our belts.
No major issues to report.
It is still unusually hot here and we think that Carol, Bonnie and Larry are responsible since they were also at Shanghai last year during record high temperatures too.
Had a nice treat at lunch today. Our Chinese host Maria decided to purchase KFC for us and let us eat in the quietness of our rooms. Who knew that KFC could be such a treat. Our KFC came delivered on two bicycles. They will deliver most items off of their menu, however they will not deliver French Fries.
It was a nice break from our typical lunch fare.
This is a funny story from Bonnie in Class 1:
Class 1 was studying money and shopping. The children practiced the vocabulary words were excited about shopping for a new bandanna in the classroom “store.”
The script for this dialog was printed for everyone to see. It was an exchange between the shopper and clerk.
CLERK: Welcome to my store.
SHOPPER: I would like to buy a bandanna.
It continued on with choosing a color and paying with play money.
One little guy excitedly burst into the store.
CLERK: Welcome to my store.
BOY: I would like to BE a BANANA!

It seems we are adjusting to the altitude and we are sleeping better at night. It’s amusing how winded we get sometimes at doing things that at home would not phase us. That crazy altitude.
